Diversity council on global education and leadership at kean university:supporting the Holocaust Resource Foundation and the Holocaust Resource center in achieving its goal of global education and engagement is the diversity council on global education and citizenship of kean university.founded in 1990, the council provides more than 130 member school districts with opportunities that empower educators to create safe, inclusive learning environments for all students by providing common core-aligned professional development.the council fosters the continued growth of active and compassionate individuals in order to reduce intolerance, harassment/intimidation, and to promote social justice in a democratic society.the council hosts annual elementary, middle, and high school conferences, as well as leadership seminars. These professional development sessions explore diversity-related themes including bullying, Holocaust and genocide education, civil rights, and confronting human rights abuses.2. Annual scholar lecture & commemorative programs:each year, the Holocaust Resource Foundation and the Holocaust Resource center delivers two hallmark events the murray pantirer scholars' lecture and yom hashoah memorial service as well as commemorative programs for international Holocaust remembrance day and kristallnacht/november pogrom, and Holocaust and genocide awareness month (april). We also partner with religious communities, educational institutions, and nonprofit organizations.3. Josiah e. dubois jr. collection:the Holocaust Resource center of kean university was honored to receive the josiah e. dubois jr. collection recently. Dubois, originally of camden, nj, served as the general counsel of the war refugee board, the agency created by president franklin roosevelt in 1944 to rescue and provide relief for jews and persecuted minorities during the Holocaust. Dubois later served as the chief prosecutor at the i.g. Farben trial, one of the nuremberg war crimes trials in postwar germany. His papers, which include original handwritten drafts and notes related to the creation of the war refugee board, debates related to allied treatment of postwar germany, transcripts of nuremberg proceedings, and drafts of dubois's memoir, will be an important source for scholars of the Holocaust and the nuremberg trials.4. Oral history project:in 1982, the Holocaust Resource center launched an oral history project to gather and preserve first-person eyewitness accounts, resulting in a unique collection of more than 200 original oral histories from local Holocaust survivors, rescuers, and liberators.the testimonies provide historical context about jewish life in prewar europe, the events of the Holocaust, and rebuilding community after genocide. By critically engaging with these narratives, they help us build imperative connections between the antisemitism and persecution experienced by europe's jews, and recent incidents of injustice, displacement, and genocide in the 21st century.today, these oral history collections are associated with the united states Holocaust memorial museum in Washington, d.c., hebrew university in jerusalem, and yale university in new haven, ct. a number of the oral histories are featured in the kean university library's digital repository; all are available for viewing at the hrc.
