Program areas at Home Place of Texas

The day program began in 2008. We expanded our space substantially in 2010 as the program doubled in size. The program continued to flourish and, with funds obtained from a grant, our facilities were expanded significantly in 2012. We serve over 200 adults with disabilities each week. The purpose of the day programs are to continue life-long learning, and to learn and practice work and social skills, learn to be a team member, take personal responsibility for actions, and gain work experience. Participants are provided numerous opportunities to volunteer in the community and develop work skills and appropriate workplace behavior under the supervision of a job coach. These activities teach the attributes necessary to successfully work in the community. We hired a job coach in 2012 and a second job coach in 2013 to expand our opportunities for volunteering in elderly care facilities, churches, and other nonprofit organizations. These activities allow our participants to gain much needed experience in the work Place with supervision so that their work skills improve. They also learn appropriate workplace behavior. The residential service program was discontinued in september 2019.
