It is a social capital means to multiple ends: extra income for Home providers, reduced rent for Home seekers, shared energy and costs, reduced commutes, enhanced sense of community, nursing Home diversion, respite for adult children caring for aging parents, and no cost, at-home, non-medical services for seniors (transportation, protective presence, meals, etc). The number of people supported in matches was 110 people in fy18. The average rent of a Home Share Now match was 290 per month which saved Home seekers 157,996 in rental expenses. 31% of all Home seekers provided services in lieu of rent and paid 0 in rent per month. While new infrastructure is important in meeting housing needs, the 106 units created by Home Share Now by utilizing existing housing stock would cost at least 21 million to build new. Home Share Now matched Home seekers provided 16,014 hours of assistance, enabling older adults and others to stay safely at Home. These services represent a potential savings of over 189,000 for Home providers and their families. Older adults likely saved 567,000 in nursing Home diversion thanks to Home Share Now. 94% of matched Home sharers reported an improvement in at least one quality of life indicator such as feeling safer, less lonely, happier and healthier. 98% of matched persons responding to the fy18 outcomes survey would recommend Home Share Now to family and friends. `
