Program areas at Hood River Senior Citizens

Meals program --- encompasses both an in-house lunch program for the general public, a meals on wheels delivery program that delivers hot and nutritional meals to shut-in Citizens in the community. Meal delivery is provided by volunteers.community members who receive meals on wheels are trying to maintain their independence by being healthy enough to remain in their homes. The nutritionally balanced meals that are delivered to Citizens helps them both physically and mentally. An important benefit to the meals on wheels program is the daily check-in that the volunteer drivers are able to provide to each citizen that they visit.
Senior exercise programs, outings/trips, and room rental --- the building is used by a variety of community not-for-profit organizations to provide services to the community and in particular Senior Citizens of the community. Exercise programs such as tai chi, yoga, and other low impact activity provide healthy exercise for Senior Citizens. Opportunities to get seniors out of their homes and experience community through local outings and trips.community group room rentals provide income to the organization that is used to support organizational related activities. Community groups experience active Senior Citizens and allow for further community volunteer activities for participants.
Thrift store --- the organization operates a thrift store that receives community donated items for resale to the general public at reduced costs. Volunteers work at sorting, staging, and selling items. These activities provide self-esteem and physical activity to the volunteer Senior Citizens, while providing reduced cost merchandise to the general public. All proceeds are used to support organizational related activities.
