Program areas at Hope for Families
Camp Hope costa rica is a one-week, overnight summer camp designed for underserved children from san jos, costa rica. Each year, we welcome 100 campers, aged 8 to 14, primarily from slum communities surrounding the capital, many of whom are immigrants from neighboring countries. Our campers are carefully selected by partner organizations, ensuring that those who attend hear a message of Hope beyond their circumstances and understand their inherent value and worth. The camp takes place at campamento bautista, located about 45 minutes from the campers' communities. Although close in distance, the experience feels like a world apart. Campers enjoy a range of enriching activities, savor delicious home-cooked meals, and engage in joyful experiences they may have only dreamed of. In this safe and supportive environment, they are encouraged to share their struggles, find solidarity with peers who have faced similar challenges, and begin their healing journeys. Our dedicated local costa rican team continues to support the campers long after the camp ends. Throughout the year, they focus on building relationships, visiting Families, addressing critical needs, advocating for the campers, and providing love and support, ensuring that our impact lasts beyond the week of camp.
