Program areas at Hope for Families

Camp Hope costa rica is a one-week, overnight summer camp designed for underserved children from san jos, costa rica. Each year, we welcome 100 campers, aged 8 to 14, primarily from slum communities surrounding the capital, many of whom are immigrants from neighboring countries. Our campers are carefully selected by partner organizations, ensuring that those who attend hear a message of Hope beyond their circumstances and understand their inherent value and worth. The camp takes place at campamento bautista, located about 45 minutes from the campers' communities. Although close in distance, the experience feels like a world apart. Campers enjoy a range of enriching activities, savor delicious home-cooked meals, and engage in joyful experiences they may have only dreamed of. In this safe and supportive environment, they are encouraged to share their struggles, find solidarity with peers who have faced similar challenges, and begin their healing journeys. Our dedicated local costa rican team continues to support the campers long after the camp ends. Throughout the year, they focus on building relationships, visiting Families, addressing critical needs, advocating for the campers, and providing love and support, ensuring that our impact lasts beyond the week of camp.
Street of Hope (formerly known as Hope for Families latvia) is a non-profit ministry in latvia that works with impoverished children and their Families. Street of Hope currently serves 300 of the poorest in latvia. This is year-round work and helps take care of Families' critical needs. Street of Hope helps with jobs, parenting, counseling, supporting struggling Families, transportation, when necessary, education, medication, and, when necessary, housing, food, and heat.
Camp Hope latvia is a two-week overnight summer camp designed for underserved children across latvia. This year, we welcomed 180 campers aged 5 to 18, who were carefully selected based on their challenging circumstances. The camp took place in silmaci, a beautiful countryside setting. Campers participated in swimming, dancing, crafts, and games throughout their stay, all while forging new friendships and strengthening old ones. They also engaged in uplifting discussions about god's profound love for them, enjoyed late-night gatherings, and savored delicious, high-quality meals. Several former campers returned as staff, creating a supportive environment where everyone shared, encouraged one another, and made lasting memories.
Camp Hope richmond is a week-long overnight camp program for underserved children from metro richmond, Virginia. In 2023 we served about 100 children from 8 partner organizations. We spent the week at camp hanover, enjoying swimming, fishing, games, crafts, great food, and a powerful message about how god sees us and what he wishes for each of us.
