Hope Initiatives warehouse provides clients of the monroe county department of social services and of other local agencies with emergency furniture and household items, and moving and storage services. We served more than 1,600 families and individuals in 2022-23. Hope Initiatives provides carpentry, welding, and cnc skills experiences to community service volunteers and others within the greater monroe county area. All programs and services operate 5 days per week.hope Initiatives purchases, renovates and maintains homes to provide supplemental income in support of other program service areas.
The Hope works program was established in 2022. It builds upon our experience in providing work experiences and coaching to w.e.p. Participants for many years. Hope works is a full time 12-week workforce development program designed to prepare individuals ages 18+ for meaningful employment through employability skills training and through hands-on occupational skills training in basic woodworking, welding, and cnc machining. Upon training completion, participants are connected with employer partners for full time employment. The program is desiged to serve individuals who are in re-entry from incarceration, recovering from substance use disorders, chronically unemployed, age 18 - 24 who are at risk for gun violence, or referred by the department of social services. In its more than twelve months of operation Hope works has enrolled 99 individuals, of whom 50% attended the program and approximately 20% gained employment.
