Program areas at Housing Alliance of Pennsylvania
Hap educates the public about solutions to the challenges of Housing affordability, homelessness, and blight by coordinating peer to peer learning, regular webinars and conferences and elevating new resources and highlighting promising practices. Hap conducts research and provides trainings and technical assistance to assist those delivering assistance programs at the local level. Technical assistance is provided by sharing information and expertise with communities, assisting with capacity building and staff training and assessing feasibility of new programs.hap is an expert on practical solutions to the affordable Housing crisis and has led an effort to create a state policy infrastructure that assists local communities to provide affordable Housing to its lowest income residents. Hap advocacy and lobbying promotes policies, legislation and programs that support hap's mission including updating membership on legislative happenings, meeting with legislators to advance critical legislation, providing opportunities for advocacy and lobbying at the state and federal levels.hap identifies and researches best practices and serves as a go-to resource for communities to adopt evidence-based and data-informed practices and program models. Hap supports local pracitioners by convening to advance programs and lending capacity and credibility to promote programs and policy solutions.
Hap hosts an annual statewide conference which provides training on topics of interest and relevant to stakeholders. The "homes within reach" conference has become the pre-eminent state Housing, homelessness, and community development event which attracts 800-900 people from cities and towns from across Pennsylvania. It also hosts other events as well as a webinar series designed to build the capacity of the industry statewide.
