Program areas at Housing Collaborative
Housing Collaborative is a nonprofit that makes affordable housing easier to navigate. Founded in Charlotte in 1999, Housing Collaborative helps secure or retain housing for households experiencing homelessness; those who have lost housing due to disaster, displacement, or eviction; and those who are at risk of homelessness. We work in collaboration with other mission-based organizations by leveraging their supportive services and/or programmatic resources with our housing expertise and housing-related resources. We are committed to second chances, and to using our journeys to help others. Many of our dedicated team members have experienced barriers to housing and employment like justice system involvement, homelessness, or domestic violence. (continued on Schedule O)In FY24, Housing Collaborative continued our housing placement and inspection coordination services in Mecklenburg County and expanded those services to 79 additional counties in North Carolina: Housing Collaborative helped 332 households (753 people) experiencing or at risk of homelessness to secure housing across 80 counties, including 61 households (103 people) impacted by displacement events in Mecklenburg County. We added 83 new housing provider partners statewide. Our inspection team coordinated over 1,080 rental housing inspections. We checked in with property providers to provide support over 1,400 times. In FY24, Housing Collaborative provided approximately $3.7M in housing-related financial assistance for households and incentives to develop and sustain housing provider partnerships:$2.97M in assistance was provided to help over 700 households experiencing homelessness to access and retain housing, including arrears, application fees, rental subsidies, and housing provider incentives.350 households were assisted with over $600K in first month's rent and security deposits through the City of Charlotte-funded Deposit Assistance Program.Approximately $129K in in direct financial assistance was distributed to support housing retention for 26 households in partnership with DreamKey Partners.Seven team members were promoted in FY24.
