Houston Cinema Arts Society promotes the cinematic arts through innovative and interactive film screenings, media installations, interdisciplinary performances, and educational initiatives. Our mission is to present diverse audiences with artistic experiences that celebrate the creative process and enrich Houston's culture and urban vitality. We offer flagship programs throughout the year including a Texas film spotlight, encore screenings of our Cinespace short film finalists, as well as members-only screenings of premiere films.

Program areas at Houston Cinema Arts Society

Houston Cinema Arts Society (hcas) makes film a part of the city's cultural infrastructure, reaching houstonians of all backgrounds and increasing access to the art form for generations to come. Houston Cinema Arts festival and the year-round screenings, events, panels, live performances, filmmaker development opportunities, and field trips for students presented by hcas attract approximately 5,600 houstonians each year. Our cinespace short film collaboration with nasa received 250 entries from 44 different countries in the past year. We serve communities all over Houston in collaboration with leading Arts organizations for a decentralized engagement. Our audiences reflect Houston's cultural diversity: 15% hispanic and latinx, 13% african american, and 13% asian american.
Houston Cinema Arts Society offers a wide variety of screenings and related programming throughout the year including a Texas film spotlight, encore screenigs of our cinespace short film finalists, and advanced access to members-only screenings of premiere feature films. Many of these screenings are free for hcas members.
