Program areas at Howl Arts
The Howl festival uniquely honors the diverse culture of the lower east side with a weeklong celebration. It is an explosion of dance, film, food, music, performance, painting and poetry. It invites the community to participate in events that begin with free outdoor gatherings and concerts in tompkins square park and embrace the performances and exhibitions in local venues. Its continuing purpose is to enhance and create opportunities for artists in the production of their work and to serve the community by bringing greater access to all forms of the Arts. By offering free and low cost events, it puts the Arts within the reach of everyone.
Howl Arts Inc. is a non profit organization dedicated to preserving the past and celebrating the contemporary culture of the east village and lower east side. Howl Arts Inc. Creates opportunities for artists to produce and show thier work, and engages in activities aimed at improving the quality of life for artists and members of the creative community.
