Program areas at HSCC

The Humane Society continues to serve thousands of people and animals through our programs and services. The demand for companion animals and their care is at an all time high. Our low cost community pet medical clinic, with an additional satellite facility in burlington, continues to be very popular and the only option for many people seeking medical care for their pets. We re-homed over 1,278 animals, administered 500 vaccinations, completed 500 spay and neuter and minor medical procedures, and offered free pet food to over 1,000 families in need. We rescued over 350 animals from high-volume shelters down south and provided Humane education to 150+ students ages 5-15. Feral cats were trapped, neutered and returned to the outdoors and our spay the mom program spayed and neutered 50+ cats and kittens at no cost to their owners. We administered rabies shots to 100+ community pets through our annual rabies clinic. Our loyal volunteers collectively gave well over 1,000 hours of their precious time so that we could conduct our daily business. Our good neighbor program assisted 42 families that needed temporary housing and care for their animals during times of transition in their lives. Our pet help line served over 100 pet owners. We had 3,000+ donors help to advance our mission through their generosity. We continue to collaborate with many local social service agency partners, and our Humane investigator assisted law enforcement with animal abuse cases in Chittenden and grand isle counties and beyond.
