Humanities Iowa (HI) is dedicated to bringing the humanities to life in Iowa, with the diverse people of Iowa. We provide grants, build community partnerships, and create programming that reaches over 250,000 Iowans each year. Our programming and projects reach every corner of the state and range from community roundtables and intergenerational storytelling projects to documentaries, rural archives restoration, the Iowa Poet Laureate program, the statewide Speakers Bureau series, and the journal Voices from the Prairie.

Humanities Iowa sponsored over 200 public history programs across the state in 2021 - programs that showcased Iowa's wealth of home grown knowledge and talent to thousands of iowans and beyond. Humanities Iowa remains committed to making extraordinary programming available to all iowans. During 2021 we: - awarded over 115,000 in grants to 21 Iowa non-profits; - funded public programs at Iowa state university, university of northern Iowa, hawkeye community college, and other higher educational institutions around the state; - supported exhibits in des moines, dubuque, and davenport; - partnered with siouxland public media, waterloo public library, des moines metro opera, Iowa writer's house, cartha and numerous historical societies;
