Program areas at HIP

Nutritious Meals: During 2023/24 HIP served xxx,xxx meals to Seniors Children, and individuals experiencing homelessness. xx,xxx meals were served to seniors, xx% delivered directly to participants' homes. HIP delivered xx,xxx Healthy HIP Pack weekend meals to students in partnership with local schools, and provided xx,xxx weekday meals to students & parents when Seattle & Shoreline schools were closed for Summer break. HIP provided xx,xxx meals to adults experiencing homelessness.
Advocacy: HIP actively engages with local, state & national coalitions of food justice organizations to advocate for policy-level changes to address hunger. All of HIP's programs are delivered in partnership with local schools, community organizations, food banks food distributors, and local businesses. Our volunteer base includes many seniors, civic groups, and disabled individuals for whom HIP provides social, service and vocational opportunities.
Education: During 2023/24, HIP ran xx cooking & nutrition education class series for school children and families, a gardening class for youth, and xx food justice workshops for high school students. HIP also rand many cooking & nutrition activities as part of its Summer Meals program, and provided cooking demonstrations at the Lake City Farmers Market.
