Workforce opportunities in park cleanup, car wash, and construction.
With funding from atx peace (via city of austin), several staff members visited locations in south austin and northeast austin that had a high concentration of unhoused people. Our staff would check if anyone needed assistance or felt unsafe. If so, we would provide transportation or connect them with other resources.from that work, we built up a list of about 40 people that we checked on weekly to make sure they had their medicines and were not engaging in activities that would cause a violent response.we also went to apartment buildings a day after austin police department interventions, often because of shootings, and convince the residents to put away their guns and not act in manners that risked escalation.
We feed a rotating group of over 100 people. We have also provided ad-hoc support in accessing medical care and social services. A community resource center is headquarters of program operations.
Wages paid to employees serving in various program capacities.
