Program areas at South Florida Institute on Aging

Foster grandparent program: older adults 55 years of age and better provide one on one tutoringand mentoring to youth from infancy to 21 years of age with exceptional or special needs to help increase their literacy, social & emotional development, and overall academic engagement.
Retired and senior volunteer program:this program is designed to engage older individuals involunteer service in order to meet critical community needs and to provide a high]quality experiencethat will enrich the lives of the volunteers. In the 2022-2023 year, nearly 53 volunteers providedsupport to over 1500 veterans and military families to increase their access to health care services,social support and improved their capacity for independence.
Senior companion:provides supportive person-to-person services to assist frail, elderly and disabled adults in order for them to maintain independence.
