Program areas at In His Steps International
Fathers house has been helping, abused, abandoned, at-risk, and trafficked children for over 15 years. We have seen many children grow into successful roles In the community, as well as becoming stand out leaders In church, youth group and sports teams. We had our final original child graduate from the progam and In 2023 we added an addtional child who did not have family to care for her. She is scheduled to graduate from high school this year.ihsi has been teaching english for 20 years In cambodia. We teach 9 classes per day 5 days a week. We have seen students move to phnom penh and get higher paying jobs In the city with the english skills learned on our campus. Our classes are free of charge and have been since the beginning. We also have seen our students become employed by local english speaking International schools. These students continue their studies each evening on our campus to continue building their skills and better their job performance. We are seeing an increase In students compared to last year, we accommodate as many as 200 students each evening on our campus for english classes.our newspaper/international news has steady attendance. The teacher discusses current events with the students In english and then conducts the discussions In english. We have 30 students enrolled In this new class. This class takes place after the other classes have finished for the evening.
Loaves and fish program our loaves and fish program partnered with the local government officials In the coordinated efforts to help flood victims with food, clothes, and temporary shelters during the rainy season this year. Many homes were lost as floods were ramped In our area of cambodia. We also have helped older at-risk adults In our community with food and medications as well as need supplies such as soap, shampoo, and laundry soap and tooth paste and tooth brushes, hygiene is a huge concern In cambodia among the poor and elderly.sports programihsi has been involved In the building of a sports program In the community for over 10 years, our coaches have been sent to vietnam for additional education on sports medicine and different coaching technics. Each year we put together a summer/fall soccer program that equips, boys and girls with the foundational goals of the game. This program deals with individual performances and team performance by the coaching staff. Life skills are always part of the coaching and training. Weekly games and team practices are held on the campus at ihsi. There are many youth that are involved In sports program at the campus. Tutoring programour campus has free on site tutoring after school for students that are having difficultly with some classes. This is open to the students that sak saum supports with school supplies, as well as others that are willing to study after school.guitar classwe have started up our guitar classes In 2023. Our teacher is excited to have His old students as well as new students join. Guitar classes are 1 hour a day 3 days a week. Many new students have taken interest In playing the guitar.computer classeswe are also continuing with our computer classes In 2023. The number of students has grown In this program as well as instructors. We have an introduction to computer classes for beginners, and advanced classes for the students that have skills. We have continued to hold classes for beginner photshop and video editing. Student attendance has seen comparative numbers to 2022.
Sak saum continues to be very busy. Sak saum has added 4 more people into the job skills training program. This program teaches how to cut patterns and sew different stitches as well as make a complete product from start to finish. This has created more jobs within the sak saum ministry to help more people be employed and have a steady income to care for their family members. Ginny and eric continue to be In the usa selling sak saum at farmers markets and other venues including church events and online. We have maintained sustainability this year through the sales and making of sak saum products.sak saum educational outreachsak saum sees the importance of education and learning and helps meet the needs of students of the community that need assistance. This past year sak saum supported children of all different ages with school supplies, including books, pencils, markers, crayons, notebook paper, backpacks and uniforms, and shoes. Some children were In need of bicycles which were provided.
