Program areas at Independence House

Advocacy support, safety planning, 209a and 258e restraining order assistance in our safeplan court advocacy program to 1,838 survivors. Outcomes included personal safety plans, increased access to victim compensation resources, increased measure of safety and improved well-being.
On-site hours of emergency shelter services for domestic and sexual assault survivors.
Domestic violence advocacy, shelter, safety, counselling and safehoming assistance to over 3,617 survivors of domestic violence. Outcomes achieved include increased well-being, increased options for safety, and increased knowledge of healthy relationship signs and reduced negative impact of domestic violence on emotional well-being. Outreach and prevention activities increased community's knowledge about domestic violence and offered strategies for healthy relationships.
Sexual assault advocacy, counselling, medical accompainment, hotline response to over 468 survivors of sexual assault, sexual harassment and rape. Outcomes achieved included improved feelings of well-being, increased knowledge of strategies for managing trauma symptoms and reclamation of personal power.
