Program areas at Independent Order of Odd Fellows
Two one-week summer Camp sessions are held in july each year for children ages 7-14. Many of the children are from low income families and are most often sponsored by various Odd fellow and Rebekah lodges at a cost of $300 for each child, although there are some families who pay directly. There are an estimated 30 children served in each Camp session. The objectives of summer Camp are to help promote social and team skills, to build lasting friendships, to provide outdoor experiences and other opportunities to which the children might not otherwise have access. Activities include swimmming, arts and crafts, archery, and other sports, nature hikes, and related activities under the guidance of conselors, other staff and volunteers. Two free sessions for Camp are awarded each year.
The Camp is made available to boys and girls Youth groups in the Odd fellows and rebekahs organization for them to reserve throughout the year so they can plan overnight gatherings as part of their ongoing organized activities. This brings members throughout the state together for fellowship and/or planning sessions. This number varies each year according to participation and events scheduled. An estimated 15-20 Youth convene for each visit (usually 2 visits or more) with adult Youth leaders.
