Program areas at Indiana Humanities Council
Ih supports Humanities programs throughout Indiana. The activities of ih are designed to promote educational public programs in the Humanities that encourage hoosiers to think, read and talk. Using literature, history, philosophy and Indiana's shared cultural heritage, ih strives to help hoosiers better understand themselves and the world around them.
The eugene and marilyn glick Indiana authors awards, newly expanded and powered by Indiana Humanities, celebrate Indiana authors and their recent works. They also shine a spotlight on the state's literary community and deepen connections between Indiana's writers and readers.
Indiana Humanities continues significant grant-making activities to other tax-exempt groups across the state of Indiana to support their Humanities programming. Ih provides a grant of up to $3,000 to support general Humanities programming, a grant of $3,000 (in conjuction with Indiana landmarks) to support educational programming around historic structures, and a grant of $5,000 to support humanities-centered conversations around race and ethnicity. Another grant provides up to $1,000 to Indiana libraries (public libraries and school libraries) to help them expand their collection of racial equity materials. During 2022, grants were made across all grant making programs to more than 100 organizations.
