Program areas at Inland Pacific Ballet
Inland Pacific ballets fy2021-2022 season continued to be severly affected by The covid-19 pandemic. Two of our three touring theater venues remained closed through The end of ipbs fy2021-2022. Ipb continued to innovate during this unprecedented time, using our our largest rehearsal studio as a theater space for intimate live performances with small audiences of up to 50 persons. We also livestreamed these performances to an online audience. The result of these efforts was The presentation of a fall Dance fest mixed repertory performance/livestream, in sept. 2021; a winter program take ii featuring original choreography by ipb staff with music from The cinema; and an initial workshop performance of an original musical lilypada co-written and by acting artistic director zaylin elleni cano and hugues jocelyn cano with an original score by hugues jocelyn cano. Rounding out The season was our annual production of The nutcracker with 6 public performances and 2 school field trip performances at The fox performing arts center in riverside The ipb ii studio company was initiated with open open auditions designed for dancers ages 18-25, who have reached The top level as a student and may be going to college as a way to continue their Dance training. Members were featured in ipbs fall Dance fest program, and performed with The company in all season productions. Ipb ii members work with The company in its rigorous daily rehearsal schedule and are considered pre-professionals.apprentice program: apprentices are pre-professional dancers who work with The company in its rigorous daily rehearsal schedule and perform in all productions. They receive a scholarship for additional training through The ipb academy and are under consideration for company contracts in future seasons. During The fy2021-2022, a cohort of apprentices was selected by audition and continued their training, performing roles in ipbs season of performances.youth mentoring: ipb continued to provide unique performance and learning opportunities for gifted young dancers in The region through participation in ipb productions and through master classes and workshops with outstanding artists in The field. In particular, open auditions for our annual production of The nutcracker returned for The first time since 2019.
