Program areas at Innovative Health Solutions
Wellness programs-we work with a local high school and another community organization implementing the "healthy local multimedia campaign project", promoting nutrition and physical activity through healthy cooking, garden education, and multimedia content. -our "healthy cooking with kids" nutrition education program has been implemented throughout the benicia unified high school district. This program was established to improve access to fresh healthy foods and increase nutrition education by offering a comprehensive nutrition education program for youth. -our cooking and tasting program engage elementary school children in hands-on learning with fresh, affordable foods from diverse cultures to improve children's nutrition.-for older adults, we developed and implemented the "everybody loves line dancing" (elld) 6-week curriculum in partnership with three area agency on aging organizations and contractors at local community centers, senior centers, veteran centers, assisted living facilities, and senior apartment complexes. The goal of the elld curriculum was to promote optimal Health for older adults through relevant physical activity, social engagement, and nutrition education about healthy and tasty recipes with tips on planning nutritious meals.-we collaborated with soilogical and rohiffs manor to implement a community garden for their residents, installing an in-ground worm compost, decomposed granite pathways, for wheelchair accessibility, garden arbors and a-frame trellises and a drip irrigation system for the entire garden.-we secured a refrigerated van with support from the napa/solano area on aging to help expand our medically tailored meals distribution program throughout solano county.
