Iris's mission is to help refugees, asylees, asylum seekers & other displaced people establish new lives, regain hope & contribute to the vitality of their communities. In 2022 iris welcomed 525 refugees & other immigrants and assisted over 3,400 others who arrived in previous years. Iris meets their basic needs - housing, food, furniture, clothing - and offers Services to help them integrate into the community and become economically self-sufficient, including case management; english classes; healthcare coordination; wellness programs; employment, education, youth, & immigration legal Services. In addition iris's lawyers represent asylum seekers in their cases and immigrants in their proceedings. Iris conducts a range of public education programs to educate americans about immigrants and provides extensive opportunities for community engagement - volunteer opportunities; cultural companions; art, music, and other cultural events and community sponsorship of newly-arriving families.
