Program areas at Intercultural Mutual Assistance Association of Southeastern Minnesota
Employment services - imaa assists refugees and immigrant job seekers to identify and reduce barriers to employment. During fiscal 2023, 494 adults and youths received intensive case management and training services that enhance their long-term self-sufficiency, and 181 individuals were placed in permanent full-time employment.
Interpretive and translation services - imaa provided approximately 7550.75 hours of interpretation and translation services to help bridge the language barrier that exists between individuals with limited english proficiency and the community in which they live.
Imaa reduces cultural and social barriers to health care through the work of certified community health workers (chw). Imaa's chw's helped 469 individuals obtain or retain health insurance, and 821 individuals live healthier lives (821 individuals referred for services, 2087 visits provided for referral received).
Imma builds bridges to safety and hope by providing culturally sensitive bilingual advocacy, information about victim's rights, and system navigation to victims of general crime. Between fiscal year july 1, 2022 to june 30, 2023, 67 individuals or victims of crime found safety and began to rebuild their lives. 18 individuals or families received services through the legal clinic and received free legal consultation. No individuals or families received free immigration consultation through the immigration clinic as we were unable to secure an immigration attorney.
