Program areas at International Action
International Action, Inc. (iai) has worked in haiti since 2006 to provide communities with access to clean, safe water. The primary technology we have used has been a chlorinator system. Due to a higher incidence of protozoan-based infections and the three year drought that haiti has been experiencing, in 2015, International Action began to adopt other methods to ensure that haitian families have access to potable water.in 2016, the goal was to evaluate the progress of our work in the artibonite region of haiti. While working directly with the haitian communities, we were able to determine what steps needed to be taken in order to best achieve that goal. Things have changed in haiti in regard to water and sanitation, our co-objective on this mission included moving forward with our de-worming and vitamin distribution program so desperately needed, especially by the children. For the immediate future, these two projects are the planned focus for International Action. We are thrilled to announce the crowning success of the artibonite clean water project which is now providing an estimated 51,000 haitian people access to safe, clean water every day. The artibonite project does more than just furnish destitute people with clean water; it grants them a little peace-of-mind so critically needed in an environment wrought with worry and uncertainty at every turn. Our primary goal was to learn how we could expand the good work we were doing in the artibonite region. We discovered the best way for us to continue helping them was by continuing to build on the work we'd already begun with select communities using the chlorinator and water tank systems.clean water is critical to survival. In the dessalines commune, this means we are working to create new water sources that use water from protected aquifers --mostly devoid of bacterial, protozoan or other virus-based infections.
