Program areas at IAIA
Communicate the societal benefits of Impact Assessment (ia) in planning processes to policymakers, decision makers, and the general public . Ia is one of the few public policy tools that can address climate change, clean air, clean water, and biodiversity, and protect vulnerable populations such as indigenous peoples, women and children, and other disadvantaged populations. Iaia provides information on ia through electronic communications, social media, and free publications available on www.iaia.org. Resources provided to members include access to our journal, Impact Assessment and project appraisal, and our online community group, rebranded as the hub.
Iaia offered five online training courses in 2023, with a total of 104 people taking the courses. In addition, iaia's professional development program (pdp) continues to provide online training in project-based Impact Assessment and related studies. The training is designed to support individuals involved in carrying out studies, reviewing those studies, or otherwise participating in assessing the impacts of projects while the projects are being considered for approval. Pdp courses are trainer-supported, meaning that each course participant works one-on-one with an experienced trained using online communications tools. In 2023, 123 participants enrolled in the foundations course, which was offered three times. A second pdp course on social Impact Assessment is nearing pilot stage.
