During the 2022-2023 concert season, the International Contemporary Ensemble offered a robust slate of virtual and in-person events - ensuring that our work connects with as many artists and Contemporary music lovers as possible while maintaining safety measures. The 2022-23 concert season featured approximately 70 performances both in partnership with presenters and self-produced. We also engaged over 6,500 audience members. Ensemble evolution:ensemble evolution is our annual week-long tuition-free summer music seminar at the new school's college of performing arts, where a cohort of 40 sonic artists-most in their early careers-collaborate with and learn from a faculty of Ensemble musicians and leadership, as well as renowned guest artists. Participants create, compose, collaborate, and discuss essential topics currently undergoing rapid change in arts and culture: equity, access, intersectionality, and technology. In june 2023, Ensemble evolution was presented as an all-in-person program, including two concerts featuring world premieres and a participant showcase.call for___commissioning new works is at the core of the Ensemble's programming. The call for__ program is our in-house commission program and is open to early-career artists who have not received major professional accolades, including honors, prizes, or fellowships awarded to mid-career composers, and do not have a national reputation or extensive press appearances. Over two years, the composers receive a paid commission, collaborative workshops, promotional support, premieres at our partner concert venues, and professional documentation via digitice, our high-end video archive that they can use for their portfolios and for the public to use to discover new artists.
