Headquartered in the metropolitan Washington, d.c., area, the organization has regional offices in brussels, the district of columbia, santiago, and shanghai. The organization's mission is "to promote the use of Copper by communicating the unique attributes that make this sustainable element an essential contributor to the formation of life, to advances in science and technology, and to a higher standard of living worldwide." The organization was formed in 1959 by 24 of the world's leading primary Copper producers to coordinate and improve the effectiveness of the International market development, research, and technology activities of the industry.
