Program areas at International Federation of Fertility Societies
Workshops and education development: to promote education by bringing expert speakers to underdeveloped and developing countries to share information in the field of human reproduction. Events take place virtually and in person when available.
Special projects - iffs directs special projects on an ongoing basis as determined by interactions with member Societies as well as availability of funding from external partners (e.g. Grant funding). Past special projects include the online academy curriculum (a series of self-guided educational activities), an International review of infertility demographics (journal publication), a triennial survey of reproductive medicine policies globally, and educational webinars. Iffs also maintains a three-year plan in collaboration with the world health organization (who) which also contains requirements for special projects.
Journal - iffs manages an open-access journal published through wolters kluwer. The journal publishes quarterly, accepting articles on original research, meeting reviews, and letters to the editor. The journal is managed by a volunteer editor-in-chief and editorial board, and iffs receives an annual editorial office stipend. The journal has, to date, not earned any royalties for iffs.
Description for other programs (membership, meetings & exhibits, and corporate) - iffs has member Societies and individual members. Member benefits primarily include discounts to attend the triennial world congress, and the opportunity to request partnership with iffs on projects and meetings. Iffs holds a world congress every three years. Iffs holds workshops in local regions based on interest from a local reproductive health and embryology organization (these were suspended or held virtually during the pandemic). Corporate is related to anything administrative/necessary for the day to day operations of the organization
