Program areas at International Fellowship for Mission As Transformation-Infemit
Center of Interdisciplinary Theological Studies (CETI): in Latin America, this program provides theological formation for adults from all different backgrounds and occupations through both online and in-person studies. The program's goal is to nurture communities and leaders in holistic, authentic, and transformative forms of living out the Kingdom of God and God's justice in the Latin American context. It provides students the opportunity to examine their work and vocation, family life, their place in society, and their participation in the community of faith in light of God's word, Church history, theology, and social sciences. At a postgraduate level, CETI continued to offer an online master's program in "Transformational Leadership" in conjunction with Bakke Graduate University. A total of 21 students were enrolled in the master's courses throughout the year. At a popular level, CETI offers two certification programs in Vida&MisiĆ³n (Life&Mission) and Contracorriente (Countercurrent). We had around 373 students enrolled in these programs throughout 2023, spread between the following countries: Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Ecuador, Honduras, El Salvador, and the USA.
Regional Support: The organization provides support to partner organizations and regional fellowships in the form of speakers or participants' travel to regional consultations and small membership fees. We also seek to nurture cross-regional dialogue and exchange. In 2023, INFEMIT continued our initiative to connect groups of theologian-practitioners from around the globe in monthly online fellowship. In addition to this, we started hosting online conversations on diverse topics with global participants. We participated in preparations for the 4th Global Congress of the Lausanne Movement and in events such as the Global Pentecostal Summit and the American Society of Missiology Annual Meeting. We contributed to several publications throughout the year, and we continued to strengthen our network of partnerships by regularly curating a newsletter with information about our partners.
Academic Projects: Academic projects include writing and publications in areas related to the organization's mission and participation in consultations and research on important topics of mission in the world today. INFEMIT particularly seeks to support the work of younger leaders in this area. In 2023, INFEMIT began hosting regular "community conversations" which provide space to learn about and discuss the work of members of our global community. We also began the academic research and reflection process that culminates in the Stott-Bediako Forum, preparing for the forum in 2024 (this includes 7 young scholar-practitioners from different regions of the world). INFEMIT also continued to highlight the work of global scholar-practitioners through content in multimedia formats online through our newsletter, social media, and website.
Stott-Bediako: The Stott-Bediako events are short conferences and consultations on issues of the gospel and mission. In 2023, INFEMIT held a consultation on the topic: "Transformation Revisited: Mission and Gospel Imagination" in anticipation of the forum to be held in 2024. The consultation was held online with 17 core contributors who were preparing presentations for the plenary sessions of the forum. The consultation permitted contributors to prepare their research and ideas ahead of time, give and receive feedback, and continue honing the presentations before the main event.
Faith and Life is a curriculum development program that shares a model for theological formation "from and for life" that can be adapted and used by organizations or churches in different regions. Regionally diverse programs are created and contextualized that form church and community leaders to practice mission as transformation in their contexts. In 2023, the Faith and Life program continued to be used in master's and doctoral level programs on "Faith and Public Life" at the University of Arad in Romania. The goal of the Faith and Life program is to identify and accompany regional and local leaders through the process of creating contextually appropriate theological formation programs that encourage the doing of theology "from and for life."
