Program areas at International House

International House is a residential and programmatic community devoted to the mission of promoting cross-cultural understanding for approximately 700 carefully selected International and american graduate students and young professionals from over 100 countries. The resident members study or train at over 60 nyc-area institutions in a wide range of disciplines. In addition, over 400 non-resident, affiliate and alumni members participate in i-house events and programs designed to achieve the mission.
International House offers education, social, cultural and health programming and leadership training to promote cross-cultural understanding, including orientation and training programs, leadership development programs and fellowships, distinguished speaker programs (marshall visitor, david rockefeller International visitor, jj mccloy visitor, patricia m cloherty visitor, john c whitehead corporate series), leadership in the arts, International forum, language exchange programs, fall fiesta, winter jubilee and night of nations celebrations. Additional activities include ballroom dance lessons, monthly community development activities, meet your trustees, resident recitals, salon nights, roundtables, and sunday suppers.
International House offers programmatic facilities and auxiliary services. They include programs & resident life office, resident support services, including counseling, crisis intervention and referrals, fitness center, gymnasium, auditorium, pub, study center, music practice rooms, computer lab, tv lounges, special events programmatic rooms, storage facilities, bike room, various floor lounges, dining service, mail service, laundry service, vending, phone, and internet.
