Scientific conference convened: 200+ attendees and presenters of scientific papers
Scientific prizes may be awarded: 5,000 for best paper in the field and 1,000 for best paper published in the International journal of Evolution, medicine and public Health. Travel grants of various amounts may also be awarded.
To promote the impact of evolutionary biology on Health issues, the Society's mission is to foster communication among scientists, students, clinicians and public Health professionals who want to use evolutionary insights to improve medical research and practice, and, in turn, to use information on human Health and disease to advance evolutionary biology. To accomplish this mission, isemph sponsors highly interactive, International annual meetings as well as the new scientific journal Evolution, medicine and public Health, the blog the Evolution and medicine review, and evmeded, a database with thousands of educational resources for the field. There is little government support for bringing the science of Evolution to bear on human Health problems, so isemph's role is unique.
