Program areas at ISTM
Biennial conference that was held in Basel, Switzerland in May 2023. This conference is attended by over 1,000 delegates from all over the world. Topics trending in travel medicine such as climate change, Covid-19, travel associated morbidity, antimicrobial resistance malaria, and various other topics that impact areas all over the globe are presented by subject matter experts.
The Travel Medicine Review and Update Course is designed to review the ISTM Body of Knowledge for the Practice of Travel Medicine and to highlight recent developments in Travel Medicine. The curriculum will cover topics relevant to physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals who provide medical care and advice to travelers, expatriates, and migrants.
GeoSentinel is a worldwide communication and data collection network for the surveillance of travel related morbidity. Initiated in 1995 by ISTM and the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC) it is a network of ISTM member travel/tropical medicine clinics. GeoSentinel is based on the concept that these clinics are ideally situated to effectively detect geographic and temporal trends in morbidity among travelers, immigrants and refugees.
