Program areas at Interreligious Task Force on Central
Anti-Repression and Non-violence: Education around human rights conditions in Central America, and how those situations mirror, parallel, relate to or directly differ from the context of the human rights condition of other global regions. We are promoting participatory democracy and community engagement in pursuit of the common good. Our community has prioritized communal care, holistic wellness, and mutual aid as ways to remain resilient in the face of oppression and violence. It is our hope that all people are able to thrive in abundantly resourced geographies. We encourage nonviolent communication and mindfulness practices through our civilian accompaniment programs.
Youth leadership development: Our educational efforts, though intergenerational, focus on high school and college students. We provide guidance for school groups learning about social justice, government, sociology, political science, anthropology, peace, history, education, economics, and non-profit management. These program services are more general, broad-based, with the aim of developing community leadership.
Economic and Environmental Justice: Education around human rights, conditions in Central America, and fair labor practices. This education focuses on anti-slavery, anti-sweatshop work, pro-labor, organizing efforts for collective and collaborative workplaces, and promoting fair trade and sustainability. We support the UN declared human right to organize, rest, fair compensation, and unionization. Our work also uplifts the rights of Mother Earth and ecosystems to protection from extraction.
Other program services include adult education and leadership development.
