Program areas at Inversant

Inversant is a nonprofit organization founded to motivate low-income families to seek higher education for their children.the organization believes that higher education is attainable for all, regardless of income, and that family engagement is crucial to students' educational achievement. Working with community partners, the organization provides knowledge, resources, connections, and financial incentives that empower parents to propel their children into higher education. The organization's objective is to bring underserved parents into the equation, teaching them what they need to know so they can support their children's higher education ambitions.the organization approaches its work along two tracks. First, the organization presents college access training to low-income families, offering them financial and other incentives to attend the workshops and to save toward higher education. Second, the organization works toward a systemic change in the public scholarship structure so that it is used to motivate parents to engage with their children's education and encourage them to invest their own time and effort toward educational achievement. The organization sees both tracks as instruments to reform education toward greater inclusion. The organization requires families to invest their own savings and participation, in return for which the organization provides college access knowledge, financial literacy, advocacy skills, and tuition seed money.
