Program areas at Iowa Coalition Against Sexual Assault
Victim services support program - funded through the crime victim assistance division of the Iowa department of justice, including federal and state funding components. This program supports advocate certification training and continuing education training, supports a significant portion of staff salaries for various positions, conducts an annual survey of directors and advocates, provides intensive technical assistance to programs, and enhances communication and feedback with Sexual abuse comprehensive programs state-wide.
Rape prevention education - this program is funded by the u.s. department of health and human services through the Iowa department of public health. The program provides educational seminars, hotlines, training programs for professionals and others, and other activities designed to expand the capabilities of Iowa's rape prevention education activities. The funds support part-time Sexual violence educator positions in member centers located across the state. The funds also support iowacasa's public education efforts including a significant portion of the education/prevention specialist's salary and benefits, plus infastructure expenses.
National resource sharing project - provided ongoing comprehensive technical assistance to state and territorial Sexual Assault coalitions through targeted individualized technical assistance, site visits, peer monitoring, regional and national conference calls and meetings, newsletters, web sites and other methods. This program is funded through the u.s. department of justice, office on violence Against women (ovw).
Sexual Assault victim intervention services technical assistance center - provided training, technical assistance, and resources to grantees, subgrantees, and potential grantees on building organizational and staff capacity in providing trauma-informed and comprehensive Sexual Assault victim services within rape crisis centers, dual Sexual assault/domestive violence agencies, and multi-services organizations. This program is funded through the u.s. department of justice, office on violence Against women (ovw).
The legal assistance to victims project's primary purpose area is in developing and implementing innovative and collaborative efforts to effectively address Sexual violence and fill a void in legal services being provided to survivors of Sexual Assault on campus and Sexual Assault survivors in secondary schools and to provide technical assistance and training to Sexual Assault comprehensive programs and other project partners.
