Program areas at Iowa Wildlife Center
EDUCATION ABOUT WILDLIFE, REHABILITATION AND HABITAT STEWARDSHIP: An estimated 1500 people were reached through 23 programs, events or booths, often using a combination of our wild education animals to assist in the education message. Numerous hits on our website wree indicated through the increased number of volunteers who found us through that resource. Our Facebook page grew the number of "friends" who liked us.WILDLIFE ASSISTANCE SKILLS TRAINING: We trained several volunteers to care for IWC animals, and held two training sessions for a few other rehadbilitators and apprentices; we networked with many other licensed wildlife rehabilitators on improving care of injured, orphaned or sick wildlife via email and phone.
WILDLIFE REHABILITATION: We handled phone calls for approximately 500 wild animals of 23 species. Most animals were either networked to other rehabilitators, were reunited with their parents or did not need rescued. IWC received several animals of different species. Of those, some were transferred to other rehabilitators.
