Program areas at Irish Heritage Center
Education - Study Irish culture through the meeting of Irish language courses and classes. The study of Irish history and the history of the Irish community in Greater Cincinnati, Providing a lecture forum for distunguished speakers and personalities in support of Irish heritage. Conducting classes in Irish music, song, dance, folklore, history, and literature. Building and maintaining a library of books and memorabilia and a museum of valuable artifacts. Assisting with genealogy research and documentation. Hold genealogy workshops. Engaging in community outreach efforts to inform residents of Irish Heritage Center existence, programs & benefits. 750 people benefited.
Art Exhibits, Social and Community Gatherings, and Celebrations - Organizing exhibits of Irish authors and painters, organizing seasonal community gathering and social occasions celebrating Irish heritage. Providing a forum for Irish American writer and artist meetings, Bloomsday, community council meetings and community projects, and internships for NKU and XU students. Regular smaller gatherings in the pub for Irish music, singing, poetry, and readings. Regular Irish Ladies teas and Celtic Woman meetings in the tea room. Conducting children's art workshops. 1,500 people benefited.
Music and Theatre Performance - The Charitable Foundation supports the Irish American Theatre Company's presentations of theatrical productions with Irish and Irish-American themes to community audiences. These shows utilize the theatre hall, tea room, pub room, and other available facilities necessary to produce a community event at the Irish Heritage Center on Eastern Avenue in Cincinnati, Ohio. The Irish Heritage Center has frequent presentations of Irish music and dance performances in the theatre and the pub. It is providing a home venue in Cincinnati for bands from Ireland on tour in the U.S.A. It also provides a consistantly available venue for local Irish musicians to play and practice together in sessions, Rehearsal venue for Friendly Sons of St. Patrick Glee Club. 2,200 people benefited.
