Secondary - Ivymounts secondary school offers a diploma track for students in grades 9 through 12 and a certificate track for students ages 14 through 21. Students are assigned to a classroom model based on their individual academic and adaptive needs. Each classroom model is designed based on Ivymount Schools long history of providing individual services based on the needs of the community. To help every student achieve his/her highest level of development, we aim to provide individualized, evidence-based services for each student through a partnership with Ivymount School team members, our local education agencies, our students and their families.
Elementary - Ivymounts elementary middle school serves students in kindergarten through grade 8. students are assigned to a classroom model based on their individual learning and adaptive needs. our classroom models are designed based on Ivymount Schools long history of providing individualized services based on the needs of the community. Autism - the goal of Ivymounts autism program is to provide students with a structured, language-rich learning environment to learn new skills and decrease interfering behaviors. Established in 1998, the autism program provides educational and intervention services to students with autism and their families. The program uses evidence-based procedures, including applied behavior analysis, which have been empirically demonstrated to be effective in the education and treatment of autism. Students are taught to function independently across multiple settings at school and in their community. Parent involvement and students quality of life are priorities.
The Maddux School is a general-education, private day school approved by the Maryland State Department of Education. The Maddux School provides small, structured classes with specialized social and language supports for young children in pre-kindergarten through second grade. The goal is to nurture a love of learning by teaching children how to learn. Through individualized and differentiated instruction, Maddux maintains high academicstandards while addressing social challenges, learning differences and self-esteem concerns. With our unique social learning curriculum, social opportunities and skill development are embedded in all activities throughout the day and across core subjects including math, language arts and science as well as in specials such as art, music andtechnology.
ProjectSEARCH is a unique one-year school-to-work program to help young adults with significant disabilities make successful transitions from school to a productive adult life. ProjectSEARCH occurs entirely in the workplace.Employment immersion facilitates a seamless combination of classroom instruction, career exploration, and on-the-job training and support through worksite rotations or internships. The program model includes an extensive period of training and career exploration, innovative adaptations, long-term job coaching, and continuous feedback from teachers, job coaches, and employers.
