Program areas at Mesquite Arts Council

Arts Council Programming. Supported by the Texas Commission on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts, the Mesquite Arts Council increased educational funding 1000% to provide weekly and monthly educational and cultural activities for the families of the community. The Council also provides spring break and summer camps with scholarships for poor to middle income families. The Council provides cultural and entertainment activities throughout the year, including Mesquite Rocks, Courtyard Concert Series and Off the Rails, a music series performed in the redeveloping Downtown Mesquite, Front Street Station. Approximate No. of Participants 36,250.
Dedicated Endowment Programming and Support of Mesquite Freedom Park. Endowment Programming has supported the Mesquite Symphony Orchestra, the Mesquite Arts Theatre and the Mesquite Community Band by providing funds to upgrade lighting and sound equipment to support these organizations performances. These funds are also available to assist the City of Mesquite with maintenance of Freedom Park, the Citys memorial to the 9/11 attacks in New York City. Approximate No. of Participants 6,900.
Local Support of Arts Organizations. The Mesquite Arts Council provides annual operational grants for the Mesquite Symphony Orchestra, the Mesquite Community Band and the Mesquite Arts Theatre. The Council also provides grants for exhibiting artists, musicians and performers for the annual Dia de los Muertos festival that attracts over 5,500 attendees. The Arts Council also has partnerships with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, the East Texas Symphony Orchestra, Dallas College Art Department and the University of North Texas.Approximate No. of Participants 51,100.
