Program areas at Jerome Historical Society

Historical Society - Since 1953 the Jerome Historical Society has been dedicated to the preservation of Jeromes unique history from its beginnings as an important mining town, through its time as an artist colony, to the present as a tourist destination. The Society continues to collect, protect, preserve and present this history in a number of engaging ways. We professionally manage an archive of photographs, documents, objects and library pertaining to Jeromes cultural, mining, and civic life. We operate the Mine Museum and Gift Shop displaying and interpreting the Town of Jeromes history (17,359 people attended in 2023). We built and manage the Audrey Headframe Park which is now the only experience of Jeromes mining days left in Jerome. Our ongoing historic plaque program has placed over three dozen permanent markers throughout town signifying historic properties and events that educate residents and visitors of our history.
Historical Building Programs -the JHS is dedicated to historic preservation through ownership of eight historic properties in town that it manages, maintains and interprets. One of these properties is as an art park dedicated to Jerome artists displaying and selling their original creations.
