Community living and home supports - see description on schedule ocommunity living and home supports: these programs provide a range of residential and case management Services, designed to optimize independence and dignity. Person-centered, community-based residential and day program options are offered for individuals with developmental disabilities and chronic mental illness. These programs are alternatives to more costly and more restrictive institutional settings. Residential options include small, two to three person homes, in-home support, supported independent living and life sharing. Life sharing, a service like foster care, offers individuals with intellectual disabilities the chance to build independence by living with a nurturing family within the community. These programs served 1,571 individuals this year.

We run orleans technical college, which is accredited for building trades and health-care certificate programs. Since 1974, orleans technical college has helped students move toward one common goal: learning new skills to enhance their success in the workforce. These programs served 1,266 individuals this year.

For many served in these programs, these activities are the first step to economic self-sufficiency. These programs served 11,524 individuals this year.

It empowers Delaware residents with disabilities to self-direct their attendant care at home and in the community. Support includes learning how to recruit a personal care worker, manage payroll, and navigate employee relations without feeling overwhelmed.
