Program areas at Jews United for Justice
Community organizing campaigns - jufj plays a crucial leadership role in local and regional activism by organizing a passionate and dedicated membership base that is ready to devote their time and resources to serious structural change campaigns. Over the past couple of years, jufj responded to the pandemic and economic crisis with advocacy that helped to win more than one hundred millions of dollars in additional government spending for eviction prevention, health care, child care, supplemental income, and emergency assistance, as well as major policy victories including moratoria on evictions and foreclosures and the release of thousands of people from detention facilities. Additionally, the dc paid family leave program that jufj has been championing since 2014 launched successfully on july 1, 2020. The collaborative for jewish organizing (the "collaborative"), which is housed at Jews United for Justice, brings together nine jewish organizing groups working in 17 states to accelerate its impact and attract new resources for social Justice and combating antisemitism.the collaborative works in powerful multi-racial, multi-faith coalitions to make significant policy changes to advance equity, and to reduce antisemitism. The collaborative partners with several leading organizations working nationwide in the multi-racial, multi-faith, multi-cultural movement for social change, and is disseminating content about and strategies for fighting antisemitism to dozens of influencers, congressional members and staff, and social change groups.
Fiscally sponsored services: jufj serves as the fiscal sponsor for communities United against hate - montgomery county, which unites diverse communities to combat bigotry, support victims of hate, and promote inclusiveness in montgomery county, Maryland. This agreement ended in fiscal year 2023.
Leadership development: to advance community organizing campaigns for social change, jufj invests deeply in its leaders to develop knowledgeable and passionate activists who can move campaigns forward with jufj and its closest allies.
