Winning campaigns that build power for working people in a variety of sectors: Our core strategies for advancing our vision and mission for working people and families are three-fold: lead and incubate campaigns that combine innovative communications strategies, solid research, and grassroots base-building and mobilization; shape public discourse about workers' rights and the economy to advance collective bargaining as a solution to inequality; and build and support a network of coalitions that provide a permanent infrastructure for working people to build power, wage strategic campaigns, mobilize, organize, and negotiate.
Advancing Black Strategists Initiative: Project aims to create a cohort of black economic justice and labor-focused strategists committed to leading, developing, and advancing policies and campaigns that support the collective power-building of working people, particularly in the South.
Building and supporting a network of sustainable, strategic, and powerful coalitions: we have a vibrant network of 28 local coalitions in 18 states, including the District of Columbia, all of whom share in our mission and long-term vision for working people. Our coalitions are comprised of local, state, and regionally focused affiliates working on an array of intersecting issues from public education, transit to climate change, racial and gender justice, jobs and the economy. As an organization with a network of grassroots organizations we also provide programmatic and organizational development, financial and technical support to our local affiliates to effectively anchor national campaigns and launch their own worker organizing campaigns at the state and local levels.
