Program areas at Joeys Elder Paws Rescue
Total grants and donations under our Joey & Oreo HEAL Grants Program towards veterinary payments for 62 dogs belonging to owners in financial need. The payments were made directly to the treating veterinary facility for family pets with a good prognosis for recovery. We were successful in saving 60of these dogs, who may otherwise have been euthanized or surrendered (enter the shelter system) due to lack of funds for treatment. All these pets have recovered and are healthy, living happily with their families.
We partnered with SPCA International for a matching grant to Voice of Animal-Nepal to build out their animal shelter and medical facility. The organization aims to bring essential medical care to the stray animals of Kathmandu through sterilization and administration of rabies vaccines, and medical treatment for injured animals. Voice of animal- Nepal brings animal rights awareness to their community through school programs at all educational levels and a monthly radio broadcast.
We believe that sterilization is the only proven method that improves animal well-being in the short, medium and long term. Our aim to make spay and neuter services available to low-income families and stray animals from rescuers and feeders to avoid unwanted litters in South Texas. We helped spay and neuter over 100 dogs and provided dog food to several families and independent rescuers and feeders.

Howlin and Waggin is a large shelter providing a safe home for strays in the outskirts of Cairo, Egypt. They house approximately 300 dogs at any given time. They are not supported in any way by the government but survive solely through donations. We at HEAL Foundation are impressed by the incredible work Howlin and Waggin has been doing against insurmountable odds. We are proud to support their work to improve the lives of stray and shelter animals in Egypt.
