John P Craine House provides alternatives to incarceration for female offenders and their children. The mission is to allow them to live in dignity in a safe and supportive environment that promotes mother/child relationships while participants develop essential life skills. The house aims to promote a culture of self-sufficiency and self-confidence by providing an alternative to traditional incarceration. Women who are serving their sentences can reside with their children up to age five. They learn and practice life skills essential for living independently beyond the program duration.

Program areas at John P Craine House

To promote a culture of self-sufficiency and self-confidence by providing an alternative to traditional incarceration in which women, whose children up to age five may reside with them while they serve their sentences, learn and practice life skills essential to breaking the generational cycle of criminal behaviors. Substance abuse counseling: partners with mdt to provide intensive outpatient programming and substance abuse therapy for residents using curriculum based on work of stephanie covington, phd., individual and family therapy. Financial literacy: partners with fifth third bank to provide 4-wk financial literacy programming for residents to learn budgeting and credit building. Culinary: "6130 project at heart" is targeted at providing both basic and professional culinary skills for residents, including servsafe certification.
