Institute for regional studies: the Silicon Valley institute for regional studies is the research arm of Joint Venture Silicon Valley. Research topics focus on economic and community issues in Silicon Valley and the greater bay area, and on broader regional issues. The institute conducts research that supports Joint Venture's mission to provide data and analysis, manages a variety of regional resources for the public benefit, and provides a stream of research products to the community on a regular basis. The institute also conducts work on a contract basis, ranging from custom data requests to full research studies.
Lighthouse (spun off into an independent 501c3 in december 2022) - formerly building back better - worked toward an equitable regional recovery and the opportunity to create family-sustaining income opportunities for all. Lighthouse Silicon Valley cultivates pathways and ecosystem development that leads to economic mobility for all. Providing regional leadership, the Network includes santa clara and san mateo counties.
Food rescue initiative: Joint Venture's food recovery initiative supports organizations, businesses, and governments working to make the most of surplus food and to minimize the environmental impacts of food waste. Food recovery is a system whereby food banks and other organizations collect and redistribute surplus food from commercial sources (such as grocery stores, restaurants, and more) to those in need of food assistance safely, conveniently, and at low or no cost. Food recovery plays a unique role in the food supply chain, bridging the gap between the abundance of nutritious surplus food out of reach to so many, and those who need it most.
Civic technology - Joint Venture's civic technologies initiative works to deepen Silicon Valley's broadband penetration, and bring it directly to people in the community. The program works primarily in two focus areas: community broadband and wireless communications.sveda - the Silicon Valley economic development alliance (sveda) is comprised of cities and counties focused on achieving individual and regional economic development goals while maximizing scarce resources. They are committed to addressing business needs, whether through local government policy and streamlined permitting processes, or linking businesses.
