Program areas at Joseph Maley Foundation
Disability awareness - established more than a decade ago, disability awareness is the Foundation's cornerstone program. This program exists to foster acceptance through respect, empathy, and kindness. Students recognize the abilities of all individuals, which in turn brings organic friendship built on understanding for the similarities and differences that exist between all of us. The disability awareness program served over 32,000 children throughout many central Indiana schools during 2023.
Hope - health through outreach, personal perspectives, and engagement brings emotional, social, and mental health awareness and advocacy to students in preschool through twelfth grades. As a partner with the school in instructing the child, hope conveys understanding and awareness of psychological and physical wellbeing. Students who participate in the program are equipped with tools to advocate for their own and their peers' health. In 2023, the hope program served over 1,800 children.
Junior board - the Joseph Maley Foundation junior board of directors is comprised of a dynamic group of high school students. Junior board members support the Joseph Maley Foundation's mission of "serving children of all abilities, and act as ambassadors of jmf programs, engaging their peers in service, and experiencing what it means to take on leadersip roles in nonprofit organizations. 25 high schoolers participated as a part of the junior board in 2023.
