Program areas at Joyce Ivy Foundation

Scholarships were awarded to 86 young women to attend summer programs at leading institutions of higher education (barnard university, brown university, harvard university, johns hopkins university, Massachusetts institute of technology, smith, georgetown, spelman and yale university). Grants included funds for tuition, room, board, travel and sundry expenses. The Foundation also helped arrange additional financial aid of approximately 176,551 for its scholars.
The Foundation held a series of free virtual and in person programming for our scholars and interested parties. We conducted 5 virtual programs prior to august 2023, on topics ranging from financing your education to forming your college list, preparing for your summer program and advocating for yourself in the college application process. In may 2023, the Foundation held a free two-day college admissions symposium for educators, parents and students in southeast Michigan. Workshop topics were similar to the virtual sessions offered earlier in the year and also featured case studies and student panels. In all, the Foundation events drew over 300 participants and consistently received rave reviews.
