The JPR Foundation (jprf) is an associate Foundation of southern Oregon university (sou) with its primary mission being to raise funds and support sous regional public radio network, jefferson public radio (JPR). JPR strives to extend sous regional educational mission and commitment to lifelong learning by providing public affairs and cultural programming designed to: build a diverse, tolerant community of informed, globally-aware citizens through fact based journalism and programs that stimulate civic discourse, inspire community engagement, celebrate music and foster the art of storytelling. In addition to raising funds for JPR, the JPR Foundation publishes the jefferson journal, a magazine disseminated to jprf contriubtors; operates an online civic network called jeffnet; and assists in managing radio communication sites on which JPR operates some of its stations. JPR is a member of npr and the corporation for public broadcasting.
The JPR Foundation operates jefferson live! Llc, a single member limited liability company, which helps fulfill the foundations public service mission. Jefferson lives purposes are to: 1) strengthen rural communities by supporting jefferson public radio, operating theatres, and pursuing other educational, cultural and artistic programs that mitigate rural isolation and encourage healthier communities, 2) foster the development of community appreciation for the dramatic, cinematic and musical arts by sponsoring and presenting a diverse array of professional and community based plays, musicals and concerts, and 3) preserve the historic resources and character of communities by acquiring and restoring architecturally significant properties in a manner consistent with both federal and state historic preservation standards.
