Program areas at Jumoke Community Based Care
Jumoke Community Based Care youth impact program works with 7-9 youth at a time who bcdss, bcdjs or dhmh has determined are in need of a high intensity supportive residential placement. These services consists of one to one direct Care staff, educational support, life skills development, and crisis response services, and an unconditional level of Care. Therapeutic recreational activities are made available to the youth on a daily basis via, local parks and recreation centers. Jumoke Community Based Care also focuses on behavioral management. The one to one direct Care staff will encourage and facilitate natural consequences to poor decision making and problematic behavior. Natural consequences are viewed as the "punishment" for the youth actions, with the idea learning will take place in processing the event and consequence.
Jumoke Community Based Care respite program has the unique ability to provide short-term housing and intervention for the development of disabled foster Care youth between the ages of 15-20, who have been dually diagnosed. The respite services are provided for youth who have complex emotional and behavioral needs and require more structured Care in a harmonious environment. The program provides short-term housing for residents that is appropriate for the needs of the children; provides immediate intervention services for dda children temporarily removed from their living environment and who have resided in hospital overstays; provides a safe, healthy long-term living environment for children that may not return to permanent placement. The program utilizes a continuum of community-based services to meet social, clinical, and educational needs of the children and provides an array of clinical and development services to promote personal development. Care providers assist children who are experiencing trauma and adversity with skill building in-home support services. They offer one-on-one advocacy, mentoring, educational support, life skills develpoment, and crisis response services with an unconditional level of Care.
